Planting: For bush beans, plant the seeds about 1-1.5 inches deep, maybe 2 inches deep in the summer for a fall planting. The rows should be 2.5 to 3 feet apart. After the beans are up, thin the plants to 3 to 4 inches apart. For pole beans, plant 1 inch deep and 3 feet apart. Place a stake between each planted seed.

These brightly colored peppers are native to North America and are similar to poblanos or chili peppers. The plant itself has bluish leaves and white blossoms, making it quite attractive. Nonna (Grandmother) Agnes Blue Bean is a very rare variety from Italy, These were founded by Joseph Simcox who traced the roots back to northern Italy to a town called Bernardo. Also sold by a big seed vendor one time and only offered for 1 year. These are best used as a dry bean, but can also be used as a shelling or snap bean.
