Rollei 35 S is a premium model from the German manufacturer's ultra-compact 35mm film camera series. They are the smallest manually-operated shooters ever made and some of the best-looking ones, too. The black model reviewed here is one of the 260,000 copies manufactured between 1976 and 1980.

The Tenerife airport disaster occurred on March 27, 1977, when two Boeing 747 passenger jets collided on the runway at Los Rodeos Airport (now Tenerife North Airport) on the Spanish island of Tenerife. The collision occurred when KLM Flight 4805 initiated its takeoff run during dense fog while Pan Am Flight 1736 was still on the runway. The impact and resulting fire killed everyone on board.

The Rollei 35 Legend. This review will try to cover all Rollei 35's.Personally I have a Rollei XF 35. (weirdest of the bunch) And use Rollei 6000 series medium format cameras. Yes, still. But I have to start out this little light review by saying there is only one Rollei camera I've ever had that I disliked to the extreme.

The Rollei 35 camera comes in many forms (usually with the abbreviations S, SE, etc), and it was first launched in 1966 as the world's smallest 35mm camera. Mine has the abbreviation S to indicate it has a Sonnar lens (it was also made in Singapore).. but what really sets the Rollei 35 apart is its build quality. This thing is built like a.

The Rollei 35 SE has the lens release on the front and a larger CdS meter surround in the middle of the logo. The film is advanced with the lever on the top of the camera and rewound with the winder on the bottom. The frame counter and hot shoe are also on the bottom plate along with the release catch to open the cameras.

Of course, the Rollei 35SE does have a light meter, but outside of that meter there is very little to help you on your way. Aperture is manual, shutter is manual, focusing is guess work via zone, and that's about your lot. Is the Rollei 35SE a fiddly camera to use? One of the most oft-repeated caveats of the Rollei 35 is that it is fiddly to use.

Rollei 35 SE Camera Review Casual Photophile

On top of being one of history's smallest 35mm cameras, the Rollei 35 was immensely popular, produced in the millions despite a high price tag. While the first Rollei 35 saw the light of day at the International Photokina in Cologne in 1966, the model I have, the Rollei 35S, was introduced in 1974.

The original Rollei 35 debuted in 1966 to critical fanfare. At the time, it was the smallest 35mm film camera ever made, and even more than fifty years later remains among the smallest cameras in the world. It was capable and robust, and the buying public took note, gobbling up more than two million copies over the span of its production.

At just 3.75 inches across and 2.5 inches tall, the Rollei 35—which debuted at Photokina in 1966—is pretty much the definition of a pocket camera. How can I say this with authority? Unlike many women, I forgo the handbag as often as I can, preferring only what I can shove into my (scarce) pockets.
